Oz The Great And The Powerful (2013)

Oz The Great And The Powerful (2013) is an adventure fantasy prequel to the classic The Wizard Of Oz (1939), directed by Sam Raimi and written by David Lindsay-Abaire and Mitchell Kapner. A struggling sideshow illusionist and conman is transported to the magical land of Oz.

This week we have a guest reviewer Mummy who saw the movie with us.

MUMMY: Hello!

DADDY: What did you think of the movie?

MUMMY: I thought it was fantastic.

LILLY: I thought it was brilliant.

DADDY: It was wonderful to return to Oz. Did you hold Mummy's hand because you were afraid Lilly?

LILLY: No, I held it because she was afraid.

MUMMY: It was very scary when the wicked witch changed.

DADDY: I thought I saw you hiding behind your fingers Mummy.

MUMMY: No I wasn't!

DADDY and LILLY: Lol.

DADDY: Who was your favourite character?

MUMMY: I liked the monkey Finley (Zach Braff) because he was so cute and a loyal companion.

LILLY: It would be the good witch Glinda (Michelle Williams) because she was beautiful.

DADDY: I liked the China Girl (Joey King) because she was so brave and pretty.

MUMMY: She did have spunk Daddy.

DADDY: Yeah.

DADDY: What was your favourite moment?

MUMMY: My favourite moment was when Oz (James Franco) arrived in the land of Oz and it was beautiful and colourful

LILLY: It would have to be when Glinda kissed Oz and the bit when he was going to run away at the end.

DADDY: I liked the attack of the flying baboons. I want one for a pet.

MUMMY: Lol, it would make too much mess.

DADDY: I would train it.

DADDY: Would you recommend this to your friends?

MUMMY: Yes because the graphics are awesome and it is a very well made and cute movie.

LILLY: Yes because I loved it.

DADDY: It was great fun and a lovely birthday treat.

DADDY: How many witches hats would you give it?

MUMMY: I'm going to give it nine and a half.

LILLY: I will give it ten

DADDY: Me too.

Lilly and Daddy love to see dwarfs and midgets in movies and would like to offer our support to Andrew "Stumpy" Leavold who is seeking funds to finish his documentary In Search Of Weng Weng about the Filipino midget superstar. You can help Andrew realize his dream here.

  1. So glad you all enjoyed it!

James Franco was a major turn off for me and I couldn't get past it.

    K :-)

  2. Robert Downey Jr. was apparently first choice for the role. I thought Franco gave a serviceable if not exactly inspired performance.
